In most cases, a temporary suspension of transactions is triggered when specified security settings on your account are changed. This helps safeguard your funds in the event that your account is compromised and an attacker attempts to steal them.
For instance, if your email account is compromised, the attacker may attempt to reset your Tether password. Because the attacker can confirm the password reset using the link supplied via email, if no hold is triggered, the attacker can compromise your account after executing the password reset.
The five-day hold period will allow the legitimate account owner to detect the security breach and alert Tether.
The most common triggers of a withdrawal hold are:
While your account is temporarily disabled, no acquire or redeem transactions can be submitted, and any previously filed transactions will be placed on hold.
How to get the temporary Tether account suspension lifted
Account holders who are verified on Tether can contact support to request that the hold be lifted prior to the five-day period expiring. The withdrawal hold will be lifted as soon as your identity is authenticated.
Note: Users that are not verified on Tether cannot have the five-day withdrawal hold lifted before the five days have passed.
If you have any questions feel free to contact Tether Support.
